The Municipal Act sets out the statutory responsibilities of the CAO as follows:

1.     Exercising general control and management of the affairs of the municipality for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of     the municipality; and

2.     Performing such other duties as are assigned by the municipality.

The Office of the CAO acts as a liaison between Council and staff. Council is responsible for making policy decisions based on advice and recommendations from staff and then staff is responsible for implementing the policies of Council. A key document in guiding Council and staff is the Strategic Plan of the Town.
