Even if the property owner (employer) is not at their project workplace, labour laws in Ontario still hold them responsible and accountable, as well as workers, to ensure all reasonable steps are taken regarding workplace health and safety pursuant to the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Ministry of Labour requires a Notice of Project form be filed. Two examples
1) The project has a total cost of labour and materials expected to exceed $50,000
2) The work is the erection or structural alteration of a building more than two storeys or more than 7.5m high, etc.
