Gravenhurst, ON –The new Welcome Sticker program for Gravenhurst businesses is meant to provide customers, from a number of cultures, with an inviting and warm gesture.

These simple but important stickers are the first part of the Town’s new Welcoming Community initiative, which will provide information and resource packages for new residents and business owners.  While, the full program is still in development, Economic Development and Downtown BIA staff will be distributing welcome stickers throughout Gravenhurst, including Hwy 11 businesses, between September 5th and 7th

Creating a welcoming environment for visitors is important for the long term success of our retail and service businesses.  When a visitor or local resident feels welcome they are more likely to stay longer, get connected and invest in the community.  The Welcome Stickers have a number of languages including: French, Spanish, German, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Polish, Japanese, Hawaiian and Arabic.

“Cohesive themes help to strengthen our community’s image and provide an inviting and connected feeling for residents and visitors, Studies have shown that strong business communities work together and ultimately increase the impact for all businesses.  ” says Jeff Loney, Manager of Economic Development.

Businesses are encouraged to participate in the program by simply posting stickers on their entry doors or windows, where they will be most visible to customers and visitors.

The full welcome program is currently in development by the Economic Development Team, with consultation with community partners, and is expected to roll out in January 2018.
