Archives & Library Celebrate Sports History in Gravenhurst
Gravenhurst, ON - Gravenhurst Archives is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year!  On Tuesday, February 27th, in partnership with the Gravenhurst Public Library, they’ll begin a series of illustrated presentations to showcase Gravenhurst’s rich history, with the first talk, “Sports Heroes You Didn’t Know We Had”.
Walk! Run! Swim! Stick handle or just plain stroll your way to the Gravenhurst Public Library on Tuesday February 27, at 7:00pm, as Judy Humphries salutes the sports heroes you may not know we’ve had.  These athletes walked, ran, swam and finessed their way into national records and international medals and we’re so proud of them! Come out and learn why you should be too, especially timely in light of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games on now!
“There’s a lot of great history in our community and we’re proud to be partnering with Gravenhurst Library over the next few months to showcase it,” said Humphries.
The Archives began collecting, preserving and sharing the history of Gravenhurst in January 1978 under the direction of Marion and Cyril Fry.  Over the next coming months, Archives in partnership with the Library will be celebrating their 40th anniversary with a series of talks about the people, places and events that have made Gravenhurst history so colourful.
Each presentation will take place in the Meeting Room at the Gravenhurst Public Library and last about 45-50 minutes (with refreshments).  The talks will include an opportunity for people to share their knowledge about the topic at hand.
