Infrastructure Department Upcoming Improvements

Greavette Sewer and Look-Out Park Playground Expansion Projects

Gravenhurst, ON - The Town of Gravenhurst Infrastructure department will embark on two upcoming community infrastructure improvement projects working with partnering contractors awarded to the tenders.

Beginning Monday July 9, Fidelity Engineering and Construction Inc. will begin the Greavette Street Storm Sewer Improvement Project which will run until the end of the year and be completed in the early spring of 2019. The existing sewers have reached end of life and will be upgraded to meet today’s needs and requirements. Greavette street and Brown street between Greavette and Sarah, will be closed to genera traffic, only open to local traffic. Emergency Services, garbage and recycling collections will continue uninterrupted on these identified routes.

Residents directly adjacent to the construction activity have been notified. The reconstruction of the Greavette Street Storm-water collection and conveyance system has been a long standing critical capital initiative needed for the Town and will be completed at a cost of $944,205.86.

In addition to the Greavette Street Storm Sewer Improvement Project, the Look-Out Park Playground Expansion Project (George St.) will begin work through ABC Recreation on Wednesday July 11 and be slated for completion and re-opening on Friday July 27.  $82,000 in funding for this project has been generously provided by the Gravenhurst Lions Club. The project’s goal is to enhance the existing playground with many new accessible features and falls in line with the Infrastructure departments goal of making public spaces more accessible. The park will be temporarily closed from Wednesday July 11 to Friday July 27. Signage for both projects will be prominently displayed. The publics patience is appreciated while these improvements are being made in our community.
