Firefighters’ Hold 2nd Annual Toy Drive During Santa Claus Parade

New Unwrapped Toys Being Collected for Salvation Army

Gravenhurst, ON - Firefighters from Gravenhurst are hoping that everyone who attends this year’s Gravenhurst Santa Claus Parade will be in the giving spirit come Saturday November 25th, 11 am. Firefighters from all three stations will be taking part in the annual event and for the second year in a row, will be collecting toys for the Salvation Army to support their annual Christmas needs.

“The Salvation Army is one of those community organizations whose needs always outweigh their resources. Our firefighters wanted to team up again to help make Christmas a little more special for families in need,” said Danielle Ryan, a firefighter at Station 1. “Last year, the response for our first toy drive was awesome and we’re hoping for an even better response this year,” she said.

Firefighters are asking those who are able, to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the parade where firefighters will collect them along the route during the parade. “We hope to absolutely fill at least one of our trucks with goodies for kids in our community,” Ryan added. While pointing to the need for toys, the firefighters will also accept food donations for the food bank during the parade. “The need is so great in our community, it’s the least we can do to help kick off the Christmas season the right way here in Gravenhurst. Can you help?”
