Businesses Encouraged to Share Feedback through Annual Business Survey
Gravenhurst, ON – The Town of Gravenhurst’s economic development team is reaching out to local business with the 3rd annual business survey.  Information and data collected through the annual survey at will help the economic development team to set priorities and create projects annually that support Gravenhurst businesses and foster growth in the community.
“The annual business survey continues to be an effective tool to help understand our business community.  Business owners are given an opportunity to provide valued input,” said Jeff Loney, manager of economic development.  “Many of the programs that we continue to work on are a direct result of the survey.  We are always looking for ways to make an additional impact on the community by understanding their needs.”
Since 2015, the business survey has shed light on many local challenges business owners face. Identified challenges from the 2016 report include; workforce retention, and growing collaborative relationships between internal and external organizations. These are both areas of focus that have been incorporated into the 2017 and 2018 work plans.  Recent initiatives such as the Retail Gap Analysis and Property Specific Marketing are also a result of feedback received from the business community.
“Being aware of the various challenges is the first step in finding a solution,” noted Julia Crowder, the Town’s economic development co-coordinator.  “It’s also important that we share local successes and recognize hard working business owners who are doing great things for the community”.
For the remainder of the year, the economic development team will be reaching out to local businesses to collect general information to be analyzed and formulated into a statistical report that will outline successes and challenges in our business community.
The final report will be completed and released during the first quarter of 2018.  Previous reports can be found at
