Helpful ‘Guidelines’ Available to Those Planning to Build in Gravenhurst
Gravenhurst, ON - The Development Services Department wants to share the most current information and trends to those looking to build in Gravenhurst.
To help the community better understand applicable Ontario Building Code requirements, the department has developed a comprehensive series of Builder/Construction Guides that break down the various requirements as they relate to the increasingly complex Code.
This information is very important to be aware of, especially if you are planning to build in the near future,” said Andy Jones, Chief Building Official.  “Our hope is that using the information in this guide will help move your permit process along faster and help keep your project on track.”
The first of these “Building Guidelines” is now available on the Town’s website under Applications, Licence and Permits. There will also be hard copies available at the Town Office Building Counter.
“We’re planning to dig deeper into these guidelines later in the year when we host our ‘Builder Information Sessions,” said Jones.  “We’ll also be looking for feedback on how we can continue to enhance this ‘living document’ over time.  Stay tuned for dates and further information,” Jones added.
Although these guides share valuable information about code requirements, Jones cautioned that it is impossible to address every aspect and requirement of the Ontario Building Code in such a summary document.  “We still encourage residents and contractors to call the Building Division with any specific code questions, we’re happy to help,” said Jones.
