The Town of Gravenhurst and Baoding City China established a twinning of cities on December 4, 2002. The two communities agreed to continually grow their co-operative relationship through information, culture, economy and trade. Since 2002, the twin cities have continued to work together toward developing a prosperous relationship.

Baoding is located in the central Hebei Province approximately 150 kilometers south of Beijing. Baoding is situated on the east side of the Taihang Mountains and is surrounded by forests and lakes.

Baoding is an ancient city with a lot of places of historical interest and natural scenic areas.

Some areas of interest include:

  • Yesanpo Scenic Area: Gorges, rivers, mountains and virgin forests.
  • Baiyangdian Lake: the largest fresh water lake in North China.
  • Western Qing Tombs: one of the two grand groups of imperial Mausoleum architecture of the Qing Dynasty.
  • Ancient Lotus Pool: a famous classical garden in northern China built in 1227 and one of the ten famous gardens in China
