Council Approves New Strategic Plan

Vision, Mission and Key Goals Established


Gravenhurst, ON –  The Town of Gravenhurst has successfully completed its Community-based Strategic Plan exercise and developed an ambitious Strategic Plan document that will serve as the road-map for the Town’s future actions. This document will help to guide the decisions of Council for the remainder of their term and offer an important platform for future Councils to assess their collective priorities moving forward.

I look forward with great optimism to implementing our plan and making our strategic goals and long term vision a reality for Gravenhurst," said Mayor Paisley Donaldson.

The framework of the plan focuses on five key goal areas:

Goal 1: Build Economic & Employment Opportunities

Goal 2: Build a Safer, Healthier & More Environmentally Sustainable Community

Goal 3: Build Our Partnerships, Connections & Connectivity

Goal 4: Build Our Cultural Capital

Goal 5: Provide Better Municipal Service

In June, a Strategic Plan Steering Committee began the process of collecting input from staff and various community stakeholders. Scheduled workshops were held throughout the summer, an online survey was circulated, one-on-one interviews were conducted with various stakeholder groups and regular updates were provided through a Strategic Plan newsletter and regular postings on the Town’s website.

The resulting document represents a vision for the Town with a 20-year time horizon and positions the community to think beyond. "This Strategic Plan will guide the actions of Town staff and be used to make critical decisions at the operational level about how we effectively allocate our resources, both human and fiscal," said Glen Davies, Chief Administrative Officer. "This document represents our blueprint for strategic change, and for securing future opportunities," added Davies.

Under the leadership of Mr. Glen Davies, Town staff will initiate the next phase of work required to ensure successful implementation of the plan and prioritize actions with designated time-lines. Additional resource requirements and details associated with the implementation will be presented during the 2016 budget deliberations.
