Probably nothing... unless you happen bring along a copy of "sex for dummies", then, all bets are off, and emotions sure to run high. Rough, raw, sincere, and ultimately tender, this achingly funny "one-on-one" strikes a chord for anyone who has ever been in a relationship.

Green River Revival

Friday, November 3rd

Calling all fans of Creedence Clearwater Revival! Don't miss "Green River Revival", the worlds' #1 international tribute to the legendary CCR.

"Green River Revival" presents the music of CCR with a historical storyline that incorporates several costume changes including the "chain gang prison uniforms" right out of the song "Midnight Special",  those plaid flannel shirts made famous by CCR in the 60's, and of course, army fatigues depicting the era of John Fogerty's Vietnam protest songs.

This talented troupe of world-class musicians truly captures the passion and soul of John Fogerty and CCR, performing timeless hits including "Proud Mary", "Lodi", "Bad Moon Rising", "Have You Ever Seen The Rain", "Fortunate Son", "Up Around The Bend" and "Travellin' Band" amongst the many audience favourites.

Promotional Image for the Six String Nation Event coming to the Opera House November 5th, 2017

The Gravenhurst Opera House presents

Six String Nation

Sunday, November 5th, 2017
Doors 1:00 PM | Show 2:00 PM
Tickets $20 (regular) | $10 (student)

From an educational perspective, the Six String Nation project and Voyageur - the guitar at the heart of the project - provide a unique lens with which to explore issues around Canadian history, culture, identity, politics, music, food, art, sport, wildlife, industry, landscape, character, narrative and natural history.

Arguably Canada's most famous guitar - subject of a Newsworld documentary, a book from Douglas & McIntyre, a commemorative coin from the Royal Canadian Mint, an experimental radio feature on CBC and countless news stories and features in local, regional and national media right across the country.

From a pure enjoyment perspective, it is such a beautiful instrument filled with Canadiana and has been played by hundreds of musicians in countless styles from many cultures including some of Canada's top artists like Feist, K'naan, Serena Ryder and Stompin' Tom Connors. It has criss-crossed Canada totaling more than 300,000km visiting places like Dawson City, St. John's, Calgary, Iqaluit, Thunder Bay, Natuashish and communities large and small in every Province and Territory of Canada from coast to coast to coast. It's even been welcomed by the Mayors of many communities in Novara Province, Italy as an ambassador of Canada during an international guitar festival in Orta San Giulio.  And, of course, it contains so many pieces that tell the story of Canada from historical figures to local heroes to the land itself.

But the main thing we like to emphasize whenever we share Voyageur with Canadians is that the guitar is an occasion to reflect on notions of Canadian identity and for individuals and communities to see themselves as part of the story of Canada.

Jake's Gift

Tuesday, November 14th
Doors 6:00 PM | Show 7:00 PM
Tickets $25 (regular) | $10 (student)

"Don't miss this acting tour de force!"
-- Bruce Mason, Gabriola Island, BC

"Jake's Gift is as near a perfect play
as I've ever seen."
-- Jackie Flanagan, Alberta Views Magazine

Winner of the Best New Play, Best Solo Show, Best Drama and Best Female Performer at the 2007 & 2008 Victoria Fringe Festival, Jake's Gift comes to Gravenhurst November 14th for one night only.

Written & Performed by Julia Mackey and Directed by Dirk Van Stralen, Jake's Gift is a moving story of a World War II veteran's reluctant return to Normandy, France for the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings. While revisiting the shores of Juno Beach, Jake encounters Isabelle, a precocious 10-year-old from the local village whose inquisitive nature and charm challenge the old soldier to confront some long-ignored ghosts - most notably, the war-time death of his eldest brother. At its heart, Jake's Gift is about the legacy of remembrance and personalizes the story behind one soldier's grave.
