Animal Services

The Town of Gravenhurst is a pet-friendly community. The Town's Animal Services team is committed to keeping the people and pets of Gravenhurst safe.

To keep your pets safe, we have a Licencing Program that will help reunite you with your pet if it gets lost. Our local humane society  provides a number of services, including pet adoptions.

Always remember to keep your dog on a leash when out on the Town unless you are at the Leash-Free Area at the south end of John Street.

Animal Control

The By-law department deals with all inspections and enforcement that relate to animal control issues.

Please call: 705-687-3412 Ext. 241 or Ext. 266 or email; Gravenhurst By-Law Enforcement

In addition to dogs, the By-law department will investigate all claims of inadequate care to any animal in the Town. More severe situations of animal cruelty will still be handled by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, who can be contacted at 310-SPCA. The By-law department will also investigate complaints of dogs being left unattended in hot cars in the warmer seasons. As for dog bites or dog attacks, the Department urges the public to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
