Garbage, Recycling and Programs


The District of Muskoka provides garbage and recycling collection services for the Town of Gravenhurst, including;

  • household garbage and sorted recycling
  • organic waste or compost in approved green bins in the downtown service area
  • seasonal yard waste collection

 Muskoka residents are required to sort recyclables into two separate Blue Boxes or clear bags; one for paper products (fibres) and the other for containers.

It should be noted that homeowners are welcome to use any open-top container such as a cardboard box, laundry basket, Rubbermaid container or similar. A Blue Box is not required to ensure collection.
