The Town of Gravenhurst By-law Department promotes a safe and healthy community for all residents and visitors. By-laws and regulations are in place to encourage people to be responsible and respectful of their neighbours and fellow community members.

The By-law Department falls within the Development Services Department and is responsible for the enforcement and the prosecution of numerous Town By-laws. Assistance is also provided to the Building Department and Volunteer Fire Department in the enforcement of the Ontario Building and Fire Codes.

For information on donating your unwanted vehicle and receiving a minimum $300 tax receipt, visit the Kidney Foundation of Canada website.

Animal Control

The By-law department deals with all inspections and enforcement that relate to animal control issues.

To report a vicious dog or a dog bite incident, please contact the Ontario Provincial Police.

Other Responsibilities

In addition, the By-law Department is part of the Town's Emergency Management Plan, forms part of the Special Events planning group and plays an immense role in the Town's Health and Safety programme.
