The purpose of preparing a strategic plan is to form the frame work for municipal policies, direction, work plans and allocation of resources for the term of council. The 2010 – 2014 Council for the Town of Gravenhurst recognizes the importance of preparing a Vision and Strategy Statement to start to address the challenging times presented to local government in the ever changing economy. With the valuable assistance from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), and building from the 2006 – 2010 Vision and Strategy Statement, Council and senior staff of the Town of Gravenhurst met a total of six (6) times with the representative of OMAFRA in order to identify strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and challenges, gaps and critical issues being faced by the community of Gravenhurst. The Council of the Town of Gravenhurst is pleased to present the attached final version of the 2010 - 2014 Strategic Plan,identifying the top six (6) priorities as: Targeted Economic Development Lack of Serviced Land Need for a Long Term Community Vision Need for a Communication Strategy Need to Address Financial Pressures Need for Long Term Planning to Support Municipal Infrastructure Also available for viewing are the Action Plans completed for the above noted priorities.
