Do You Have An Open Permit?

Have you got an open building permit??

The Gravenhurst building department is currently archiving building permits that are 3 years and older, with no record of activity in 2009.

As the property owner, please ensure that building inspections for permits on your property are carried out in a timely manner. Whether it was a minor permit to repair a deck or dock, a completion permit for construction that commenced prior to a permit being obtained or a major permit to construct a dwelling, a  final inspection is always required.   Outstanding permits may cause difficulties at the time of selling your property, obtaining mortgages, severances, or transferring the property.   The fee to re-activate a an inactive permit is $150.00.

If you had a contractor complete the work for you, but never received a final inspection report, the permit may still be open or inactive.  Please give us a call at 687-3412, we will gladly advise you your permit status.  If you have an open permit, with no inspections in the last 12 months, you may only need to request an extension on your permit based on your circumstances. You can also check your property on-line by inputting your roll number at www.gravenhurst.ca/bp.  Your roll number can be found at the top of your tax bill.
