Gravenhurst is a Community in Bloom!!!

Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program.

The program consists of communities receiving information and being evaluated nationally by volunteer jury and trained professionals on the accomplishments of their entire community (municipal, private, corporate, and institutional sectors, citizens).

Communities In Bloom is more than just flowers! It’s a volunteer committee that works to improve our community by concentrating on improving Tidiness, Environmental Awareness, Community Involvement, Tree/Urban Forestry, Landscaped Areas, Floral Displays and Turf & Ground Cover.

2009 NATIONAL RESULTS

ADOPT-A-GARDEN – members of the public are encouraged to "Adopt" a public garden. Volunteers can choose one of several gardens and plant and maintain that garden for the season. A sign will be displayed in the garden recognizing your efforts.

SPONSORSHIP – donations to Communities In Bloom are always welcome. Sponsor a specific garden or project, or make a general donation. Support the Communities In Bloom program, keeping Gravenhurst a beautiful and tidy community for everyone to enjoy. Recognition is given to sponsors on signs in the gardens, in print material and on this website.

2009 SPONSORS & DONATORS

VOLUNTEER – take pride and get involved in your community. The committee welcomes new volunteers to help out, whether for one day for a specific project, or over the course of the season. Volunteers are needed on planting day in the spring, garden maintenance over the season, watering of gardens, community clean-up days, special projects, and fall winterizing. New members to sit on the committee are welcomed as well.
