Fall maintenance starting, swim buoys coming out, washrooms closing

With fall upon us, the Town of Gravenhurst’s parks staff are preparing for the changing weather and sharing a friendly reminder with residents and visitors that the fall maintenance program is starting, which includes removing swim delineators (buoy lines) from the various beaches. 

The town has six beaches that have designated swim areas marked by a series of buoys: 

  • Franklin Beach
  • Lorne Street Beach
  • Muskoka Beach
  • Muskoka Bay Park
  • Gull Lake Rotary Park
  • Bass Lake Park

Muskoka Bay Park closed due to explosion

Muskoka Bay Park is closed to the public until further notice. 

The closure is due to a food truck explosion at the park just before 11 a.m. today. 

The Gravenhurst Fire Department, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Office of the Fire Marshal are investigating. 

The explosion destroyed the food truck and spread debris throughout the park. No injuries are reported, however, at least one home has suffered damage. 

People are asked to avoid the area.

Winewood Avenue East road closure

Location of Emergency: Winewood Avenue East will be temporary closed to through traffic between civic address 350 Winewood Avenue East (Crispy House) and Muskoka Road North (MR18). 

Road Closure Start Date: 10/3/2023 - Starting at 9 a.m.  

Road Closure End Date: 10/3/2023 - Anticipated to re-open at 3 p.m.

Council chamber closed for renovations, new meeting locations

Renovations to the Gravenhurst council chamber have officially started and will result in a better user experience for the public, council members, and staff. 

During the project period, expected to run until the end of November, meetings normally held in the council chamber will take place at other locations in the community. See details below. As always, these meetings are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.
