Half-load restrictions lifted Monday, May 15

During the annual spring thaw period, typically early March to mid to late May, municipalities in the District of Muskoka place ‘half-load’ or ‘reduced/seasonal load’ restrictions on the majority of roadways.
Effective May 15, at 12:01 a.m., half-load restrictions will be lifted.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is advising that a Flood Warning is in effect until Monday, May 8 for sections of the
South Branch Muskoka River, from Lake of Bays to Bracebridge, and the Bala Reach and Moon River.
River flows will remain near or above flood thresholds over the weekend.
Lower-lying portions of known flood-prone areas are being impacted to various degrees.

Town of Gravenhurst awards 2023 Terence Haight grants

Today, on behalf of the Town of Gravenhurst, Mayor Heidi Lorenz presented Terence Haight grants to deserving organizations.
“Congratulations to all the recipients and thank you for the excellent work that you do in our community. I know these grants will be used in a meaningful way,” Mayor Lorenz said.
Through the Terence Haight Financial Assistance Program, the town awarded nearly $30,000 to organizations this year.

Royal emerald green lighting in Gravenhurst for coronation

In celebration of the King’s coronation, the Town of Gravenhurst is displaying royal emerald green lighting at select locations.
“We send best wishes to His Majesty and thank him for his service,” Mayor Heidi Lorenz said.
Communities throughout the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth are featuring similar light displays.
In Canada, the Department of Canadian Heritage is leading the initiative.
