Gravenhurst-based Provincial Open Water Swimming Championships reports successful event
Al Shaw, representing the Provincial Open Water Swimming Championships, appeared before council.
Shaw thanked the town for its support of the championships, which took place July 15 and 16 at Gull Lake Rotary Park.
Specifically, he recognized staff for their help navigating the special event permit process.
He said the event this past summer marked the best year ever.
Shaw said they had close to 500 participants.

Council reviews hybrid meeting policy practices
Council began its meeting by holding a working session to discuss the possible creation of a hybrid meeting policy.

Autumn Smith of TimberBeast Productions made a presentation to council.
Smith is TimberBeast’s artistic director and executive director.
She provided council with an overview of the organization – a local theatre company dedicated to voicing the Muskoka narrative.

YWCA asks for in-kind use of Terry Fox auditorium and access to Internet
Hannah Lin, executive director of YWCA Muskoka, made a presentation to council.
Lin provided an overview of the organization and the services it provides.
The YWCA mission is to champion “positive change for girls, women and gender diverse people through education, leadership and advocacy.”

Presentation on Community Risk Assessment and Fire Master Plan
Council received a presentation on the Community Risk Assessment and Fire Master Plan exercise the Gravenhurst Fire Department is conducting.
The town has retained The Loomex Group as consultants for the project.
As per provincial regulations, all municipalities are required to conduct a Community Risk Assessment (CRA) by July 1, 2024.
