Gravenhurst council approves new strategic plan

The Town of Gravenhurst has a new strategic plan to guide the next five years and beyond. 

Council members approved the strategic plan during a special meeting at the Centennial Centre on Tuesday, Nov. 28.   

“This new plan will help us build on Gravenhurst’s strengths and serve as a guiding document as we make decisions about how best to move our community forward,” Mayor Heidi Lorenz said. “I thank council members, staff, and our community for helping create the plan.”

Reason for Closure:  Special Event –Gravenhurst Santa Claus Parade

Temporary Road Closure:  

  • Temporary intermittent closure at intersection of Muskoka Road 169 (Bethune Drive, Town of Gravenhurst) and Pinedale Road.
  • Temporary Road Closure of Muskoka Road 18 (Muskoka Road North, Town of Gravenhurst) from Peter Street to Veterans Way on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm for the Gravenhurst Santa Claus Parade.

Gravenhurst-based Provincial Open Water Swimming Championships reports successful event

Al Shaw, representing the Provincial Open Water Swimming Championships, appeared before council.

Shaw thanked the town for its support of the championships, which took place July 15 and 16 at Gull Lake Rotary Park.

Specifically, he recognized staff for their help navigating the special event permit process.

He said the event this past summer marked the best year ever.

Shaw said they had close to 500 participants.  

ADVISORY - Stairs removed at Lookout Park for safety reasons

ADVISORY - The stairs at Lookout Park have been removed for safety reasons. The Town of Gravenhurst believes the stairs were vandalized. 

The town is reviewing the feasibility of replacing the stairs. Currently, there is not a Town of Gravenhurst maintained trail off where the stairs were located.

Holiday Lights Road Map returns

The Town of Gravenhurst’s Holiday Lights Road Map is back and with it is a chance to win some cool prizes.
