New short-term rental map online

The Town of Gravenhurst has launched an online map showing the location of current licensed short-term rental (STR) properties in Gravenhurst.

The searchable map is on the town website.

A red border outlines each legal STR property on the map. 

The public can click on a specific property to learn its address.

All Gravenhurst properties used as short-term rentals, as defined by the by-law, must have an annual licence.

Suspected lithium-ion battery fire

The Gravenhurst Fire Department responded to a suspected lithium-ion battery fire at an apartment at 120 Preston Way on Sunday afternoon.

The building’s fire alarm sounded around 4 p.m., alerting the department to the fire. Additionally, 9-1-1 callers reported the incident.

Firefighters searched the building and found a sprinkler put out the fire. Fire and smoke damage was contained to the apartment unit.

Residents of the smoke-filled unit were away at the time.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry – Bracebridge Minden Parry Sound District is advising area residents that a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety Bulletin is in effect for the district until Friday, April 19, 2024.

This message will affect residents within the MNRF Bracebridge Minden Parry Sound District for portions of the District of Parry Sound, District of Muskoka, and City of Kawartha Lake within the Black, Burnt, Gull, Magnetawan and Muskoka River Watersheds.
