The Town of Gravenhurst is ready for winter

Winter weather is here and the Town of Gravenhurst is prepared for the season.   

“Town staff and equipment are ready to keep roads and sidewalks clear,” said Andrew Stacey, director of infrastructure services. “Our snowplow drivers have been practicing their routes and are prepared for whatever Mother Nature sends our way. Muskoka Bay Park remains closed, extensive clean-up required

Muskoka Bay Park remains closed to the public. 

The park has been closed since Sunday, Oct. 1 when a food truck exploded. 

Since the incident occurred, the Town of Gravenhurst has been working on a plan to ensure the proper clean-up of the park. This will be an extensive project that requires several weeks to complete given all the debris from the blast. 

As a result, with winter just around the corner, the park will remain closed until spring 2024.

Council reviews hybrid meeting policy practices

Council began its meeting by holding a working session to discuss the possible creation of a hybrid meeting policy. 

Kayla Thibeault, director of legislative services, provided council with an overview of hybrid meeting practices, including approaches the town took to hybrid meetings during the pandemic. 

Council members indicated an interest in having a policy allowing remote participation.
