Gravenhurst Council to Meet April 21st for Local Update
Gravenhurst, ON – The Town of Gravenhurst continues to review services and implement measures necessary in response to the COVID-19 pandemic
The extension of the Province's Emergency Declaration to May 12th, was passed earlier this week during a special sitting of the Ontario legislature, and with the full cooperation of all parties. The extension of the Provincial Declaration of Emergency allows Ontario to continue to enforce current emergency orders, such as the closure of all non-essential workplaces, outdoor amenities in parks and recreational areas, as well as restrictions on social gatherings of more than five people, and prohibitions against price-gouging.
Gravenhurst Council and The Committee of The Whole will meet next Tuesday (April 21) at 3:00 PM electronically, to be provided with an update on the current local COVID-19 situation by Town staff. This meeting can be viewed online at .
The Town would like to remind residents that the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to conduct enforcement of Provincial Orders including gatherings greater than five people and physical distancing.  Earlier this week in Muskoka, OPP issued a ticket to a resident for failing to comply with the Provincial Order limiting gatherings to less than five people which resulted in a $750 fine. Concerns of violation of the Provincial Order should continue to be directed to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
It is also important to note The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) Absolute Fire Ban remains in effect, prohibiting all open fires in Muskoka due to impacts related to the COVID-19 outbreak. The public can report offenses to the Town of Gravenhurst By-law division through or call Town Office.
Members of the public are encouraged to check regularly for updates as the situation develops.  Please visit for more information or call 705-687-3412.
