Town of Gravenhurst COVID-19 UPDATE FOR JULY 10, 2020

Posted On Friday July 10, 2020

Gravenhurst, ON – This week, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit announced that a mandatory face mask order will be implemented for our region, effective Monday July 13, in the fight and prevention against the further spread of COVID-19. The public will be required to wear a face covering (medical or non-medical mask) when entering the indoor premises of businesses, organizations and on public transit systems in Simcoe Muskoka. The Town of Gravenhurst is supportive of these measures, and will do its part to promote compliance and education to ensure the health and safety of our community.

In addition to the mandatory face mask order for Muskoka, the Province has extended the Emergency Orders under the Civil Protection Act to July 22nd. The extension was made to ensure the Province maintains the necessary flexibility to protect public health and safety, as more businesses reopen and people go back to work, and we gradually work towards Phase Three of the re-opening process.

As we all look to beat the heat and stay cool, the Town reminds the public to monitor the safety of those most vulnerable, including the elderly, young children and pets. Please take advantage of the beaches Gravenhurst has to offer in a responsible manner. The Muskoka Wharf Splash Pad is another favourite spot for the kids to cool down on a hot summer day. Please visit for rules and any current advisories. All Town beaches are open at this time with the exception of Ungerman Gateway Park Beach on Lorne Street, which remains closed due to maintenance and future construction. A full list of beach protocols can be found on our website in addition to being posted at each location. Please follow these guidelines.

As a reminder, the Muskoka Forest Fire Danger Rating is currently set to HIGH, which means no daytime burning is permitted. For information on the current rating and Town by-laws associated with open-air burning, please visit

The Town’s Recreation Division continues to review and develop creative ways to keep the community active and engaged during the Pandemic.
