Library and Archives Share Special Anniversaries
Community Invited to July 10th Celebrations
Gravenhurst, ON –  Gravenhurst Public Library and Gravenhurst Archives are celebrating two special anniversaries on Tuesday July 10, from 5-8 pm at the Library with the public invited to join in on the festivities!
Gravenhurst Public Library will mark their 135th anniversary while the Gravenhurst Archives will mark forty years preserving Gravenhurst’s rich history.
“The Library is thrilled to invite the public to celebrate this amazing accomplishment and our long lasting partnership with the Gravenhurst Archives,” said Julia Reinhart, Chief Librarian.  The event will have something for everyone including a delicious pulled pork and coleslaw dinner (first come, first served), birthday cake and activities for the kids.
Judy Humphries, archives curator, will share her presentation ‘Our Main Street – Our History’.  The presentation will focus on the history of Gravenhurst’s main street, including the Carnegie Library Building that housed the Library from 1923 until it was relocated to the new building in 2000.
The July 10 event will also feature tours, door prizes and historic photos on display of the library and Gravenhurst’s main street in the Stairwell Art Gallery.
