Gravenhurst Library Proud to Be Part of Ontario Public Library Week
Raising Awareness of the Valuable Role Libraries Play in Canadians’ Lives
Gravenhurst, ON – October is Canadian Library Month celebrating the importance of libraries and their collaboration with the community! During the week of October 15-20th, you’re invited to join in Gravenhurst Public Library’s celebration of Ontario Public Library Week!
“The Public Library is a tax payer supported public community space whereby people can walk through the doors and feel at home without having to pay a fee or purchase a product. These organizations act as great equalizers by providing access to resources, services and programs for people from all walks of life. On one hand public libraries offer people an easy and inexpensive means of leisure and lifelong learning, while on the other hand they can make all the difference in a person’s life. We hear these kinds of comments from our users regularly at the Gravenhurst Public Library and we think it’s something worth celebrating,” said Julia Reinhart, Gravenhurst Public Library Chief Librarian.
During Library Week, Gravenhurst Public Library will be accepting Food for Fines! In exchange for every non-perishable food item donated, the Library will remove $1 of overdue fines from your account. All donations (for fines or not) will be given to our local food bank. Come on in and enjoy interesting displays as well as daily random prizes! Find out what’s new at your public library. A Visit will Get You Thinking.
Stop by the library to participate! You can also visit for hours of operation and further information.
