Covid-19 Community Update

Gravenhurst, ON – As the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to evolve and information changes rapidly, the Town continues to adapt and proactively respond accordingly.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is the lead agency for our region during this health-related emergency and Town Officials are following their guidelines as they evolve. Local emergency planners have been meeting regularly and monitoring the situation as changes continue to occur rapidly.

The Town is focused on the protection of its employees and the prevention of potential spread of COVID-19 within its workforce and the community. As a reminder, all Town facilities are closed to public access. We continue to take calls at 705-687-3412 and receive emails at, and are happy to assist where we can.

Wherever possible, decisions about closures are being made at the same time and in a consistent manner as our partnering municipalities. Today, signage will be going into Parks across the District warning the public about the use of public play structures – surfaces are not sanitized and pose a potential risk for virus transmission.

“Despite the public access restriction, Town staff continue to work as best they can to deliver services to the community,” said Glen Davies, Chief Administration Officer, “We encourage local residents and businesses to implement social distancing in response to the pandemic and to continue to take the advice from health officials.”

The Town has business continuity plans in place to ensure essential services continue to be delivered. Due to the Town Office access restrictions some service methods have been altered but remain available.

Members of the public are encouraged to check regularly for updates as the conditions change. Please visit for more information or call 705-687-3412.
