Covid-19 Protocols

We are excited to welcome you back to the theatre in 2022 and encourage you to find out how COVID-19 has changed your theatre experience.  Our commitment still remains the same - offer you amazing performances in a beautiful setting with your safety top of mind! 

The Province of Ontario has granted permission for Theatres/Performing Arts Centres to have 100% of their capacity with patrons and volunteers wearing masks while in the Theatre. 

Take a moment to review the new protocols below and as always - if you have questions, please contact the Box Office at 705-687-5550. 

Arriving at the Theatre 
  • Masks must be worn upon entering the theatre and remain on throughout the performance and until you have exited the building. Exception only when eating or drinking.
  • Due to the limited front lobby, space no more than four patrons will be permitted to be in that location at one time. All others will be directed to go up to the Theatre, Trillium Court or the washrooms upon arrival or wait outside until given the clearance to enter.
  • Upon entering the Opera House, you’ll be asked for your COVID-19 VACCINE Receipt / Passport (a printed copy of an Ontario Vaccine Receipt, or a Vaccine Receipt signed by an Indigenous Health Provider) or a Downloaded vaccination Receipt from Ontario’s Provincial booking portal.
  • Along with a Government Issued piece of ID (Birth Certificate, Citizenship Card, Driver’s License, Government (Ontario or other) issued Identification Card, including a Health Card, Passport, Indigenous Status Card, Permanent Resident Card).
  • Medical Exemption (written medical exception with the first & last name, the Physician or Registered Nurse’s information on a Logo or Letterhead identifying them, Statement / reason for the medical exemption, effective period of time).
  • Age Exemption Children under 12 years of age.
  • Guests will be asked to sanitize your hands and directed up the south side main staircase to the theatre. Upon exiting after a performance all exits will be available to exit the Opera House. Please try to use the closest exit to where you were seated.
  • Accessible needs will still be met; wheelchair seating remains and elevator access is also available for those that require it. A maximum of four Patrons or more if in the same bubble” plus the operator will be permitted at one time in the elevator. 
Box Office
  • On-Line or telephone ticket purchases will be encouraged. Purchasers will be encouraged to print their tickets at home.
  • There will be minimized Box Office hours of operation for those patrons that need to purchase tickets in person.
  • Will Call ticket pick up is available up to 1 hour prior to the show time.
  • For Door Sales / Walk Up Sales, the Patron may be asked to wait in Trillium Court until lobby area is clear of patrons, then can purchase tickets.
  • Patron contact information must be provided for the purposes of contact tracing should that be required.
 Intermission and Washroom Facilities
  • One designated staircase to go down to the public washrooms and the other staircase for going up from the washrooms.
  • Patrons should sanitize their hands prior to and after using the washrooms.
  • We will encourage Promoters / Presenters not to have an intermission during the performance; this will allow the audience to come and go throughout the performance as necessary and ease on possibilities of lineups.
  • House lighting will be low to allow for safe movement within the Theatre during a performance.
  • The accessible washroom waiting area will be inside the Trillium Court to reduce congestion in and around the accessible washroom.
 Food & Beverage Service
  •  Bottled water and snacks will be available for sale all other food and beverage services (bar) will be suspended until further notice. 
 General Patron Information
  •  Patrons if you’re not feeling well please stay home!
  • Our refund / exchange policy has been amended and will be offered to a Patron who is not well.
  • Patrons will be expected to arrive wearing a mask and to keep their mask on throughout the performance until they exit the building. Exception only with eating or drinking.
  • Patrons are expected to maintain safe physical distancing upon arrival & inside the Theatre.
  • Patrons will be asked to sanitize upon arriving the Theatre.
  • Coat racks will not be available please be prepared to take your coat with you to your seat. Staff will be on site to assist you in any way.
