Information on borrowing items from the Library.

How many items can I borrow from the library?

  • DVDs/CDs - 10 per card
  • eReader – 1 per young adult or adult card. Child's cards do not permit borrowing of these.
  • There is no limit for other items.

How long may I borrow materials?

  • DVDs, video games and CDs are on loan for 1 week.
  • eReaders are on loan for 3 weeks and cannot be renewed.
  • All other items are on loan for 3 weeks, though more popular items are on loan for 2 weeks.
  • You can renew an item if no one has requested it.

How can I find out when my library items are due?

  • You may ask staff at the library in person, by phone or by checking your account on the Library's online catalogue.

How do I see what materials I have on my card using the online catalogue?

  • Click on the link to enter the online catalogue.
  • Click the “My Account” tab at the top of the page.
  • Enter your entire 14 digit library card number.
  • Enter your PIN (the last 4 digits of your phone number).
  • Click on the “Checked Out” tab to see what you have checked out on your card.

What are the fines on overdue materials?

  • Books, Music CDs, Magazines, and Audiobooks: 25 cents per day per item. $5.00 maximum per item.
  • DVDs and Video games: $1.00 per day.
  • eReader fines are $5.00 per day to a maximum of $200.00.

Can I renew my library items?

  • Yes, items can be renewed in person at the library, by phoning or online through "My Account" on the library's website. If there is a hold for another patron on an item, you will not be able to renew it.

How do I renew items using the online catalogue?

  • Click on the link to enter the online catalogue.
  • Click the “My Account” tab at the top of the page.
  • Enter your entire 14 digit library card number.
  • Enter your PIN (the last 4 digits of your phone number).
  • Click on the “Checked Out” tab to see what you have checked out on your card.
  • Check the book beside the item you would like to renew.
  • Once the item is checked, click on “Renew” at the top or bottom of list.

Do I need to pay my fines before I can take out library items?

  • When you have over $3.00 in fines and/or replacement charges, you will not be able to borrow any items.

What do I do if I have accidentally damaged or lost library items?

  • If you damage or lose an item you will be charged the cost of replacing the item plus a $6.00 processing fee. If, within 6 months, you find the lost item, at the library's staff decision, you can receive a refund with the receipt, not including the processing fee.
