Muskoka Steamships & Discovery Centre

Step into the past and explore the Muskoka Steamship & Discovery Centre - North Americas only in water exhibit of working antique boats. The state-of-the art exhibits capture the glory of the Muskokan experience, exploring the rich history of steamships, wooden boats and luxury hotels that helped define Muskoka.

The Grace & Speed Boathouse is a wonderful way to view up to 20 antique wooden boats in the water. Come celebrate turn of the century craftsmanship and the 11 wooden boat builders of the Muskoka area.

Experience what the Muskoka Steamship & Discovery Centre has to offer - from permanent and feature exhibits, to meetings and conventions and even weddings and receptions!

Muskoka Steamships

Built in 1887, the Segwun is North America's oldest operating coal-fired steamship. Passengers truly "step back in time" as they board the Segwun and re-live the romance and nostalgia of Muskoka's past.

Launched in May of 2002, Wenonah II is Canada's newest passenger vessel!   Combining all the style and grace of the 1907 vessels and the modern conveniences such as air-conditioning and an elevator, Wenonah II truly offers a luxurious setting.

Both steamships offer sightseeing, lunch and dinner cruises from June to October. The Town of Gravenhurst does not take bookings for this service, you must call Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre: Call for cruise times and more information: 1-866-687-6667

Muskoka Wharf

 

Muskoka Wharf is an 89 acre celebration of Gravenhurst's unique and varied heritage. Completed in 2005 this location offers great dining, shopping, history and heritage and is home to some of our Community's signature events. 

The Wharf features a beautiful boardwalk trail along Lake Muskoka, docking for boats and pontoon aircraft, shops and plenty of parking!

Be sure to check out the Farmer's Market from May to October, watch the sun glint off the wooden boats of our bygone times and buy unique Art and Crafts at the Dockside Festival of the Arts.

Sail aboard the oldest operating steamship, the RMS Segwun and see our boat building heritage at the Muskoka Steamship and Discovery Centre.

Muskoka Wharf also has two Condominium buildings onsite offering unique water side living options. 

Winter Activities

Snowmobiling

Gravenhurst is home to hundreds of kilometers of groomed snowmobile trails. With the efforts of the Snowcrest Riders Snowmobile Club these trails are maintained and marked for your safety.

Snowmobiling is a great way to experience Gravenhurst and there are operators willing to suit you up and take you out on the trails.

Be safe when you sled:

Stay on the trails - dress appropriately - And most importantly don't drink and sled!

Remember to respect our landowners/private property and stay off all CLOSED trails. Any use of CLOSED trails without the landowner's permission is TRESPASSING and could result in trail permissions being revoked.

Skating

Gravenhurst is home to two Outdoor Ice Surfaces located at the Muskoka Wharf.

Fall-Winter Public Skating is available at the Graeme Murray Arena daily. Please find posting schedule in the Gravenhurst Activity Guide or follow the Town of Facebook & Twitter.

Muskoka Wharf is home to The Original Pond Hockey Classic Tournament which is held on the third weekend in February.

Skiing and Snowshoeing

Gravenhurst offers a great list of trails that can be used for skiing and snowshoeing.
