Spring Maintenance for Hamlet Swing Bridge

PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO, May 4, 2022 – On Tuesday, May 10, 2022 starting at 9:30 am, Parks Canada will be conducting spring maintenance at the Hamlet Swing Bridge, in preparation for the 2022 navigation season. This includes preventative maintenance tasks like washing and greasing as well as a number of test swings.

In addition to several normal bridge swings, longer test swings will also take place, resulting in temporary closures of about 10 to 15 minutes each.

In the event of an emergency resulting in access for Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Ambulance) the longer tests can be terminated immediately, returning the bridge to the open position for vehicle access.

Motorists are asked to plan their routes accordingly in order to avoid delays.

Parks Canada wishes to thank the public for their patience during the maintenance period.
