Fire Chief Message

Hello and welcome to the Gravenhurst Fire Department website! It gives us great pleasure to share a little about our fantastic team and what they do in our community.

Our dedicated staff, full-time and paid on call/volunteer alike, are committed to public safety. Whether you are a citizen of the Town of Gravenhurst or one of our many visitors, our team works very hard to be ready to serve you should the need arise.

We want you to see that what we do reaches far beyond the shiny red trucks.

We have aligned ourselves with the three pillars of good fire service delivery, EDUCATION, PREVENTION and RESPONSE. We train often and seek every opportunity to improve our level of service within each of these pillars.

Our department aims to educate the public to assist with their safety. Ultimately while the responsibility falls to the individual to ensure that they and their families are safe, we are here to make that easier. Through promotion of the installation of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, fire escape planning and general emergency preparedness, we hope to stop the emergency before it can begin.

The department is made up of six divisions - Administration, Prevention, Training, Technical Maintenance, Emergency Response and Municipal Emergency Planning. Each of the divisions are delivered between full-time and part-time staff. These divisions all contribute to making our department efficient and effective.

This is a mere snapshot of an incredible department, made up of an enthusiastic group of individuals. Perhaps you may want to be a part of this great team? If so, please have a look at our recruitment page for more information, give us a call at Station One during regular business hours or talk to a Gravenhurst firefighter if you have any questions.

All of us at Gravenhurst Fire are proud to serve our community. We hope that through our words and actions that is clear to all of those we serve.
