Gravenhurst calls for fall artwork proposals

The Town of Gravenhurst, in collaboration with the Gravenhurst BIA Review Steering Committee, is inviting artists and creatives to submit proposals for an original artwork celebrating fall in Muskoka. 

“This is a wonderful opportunity for people to showcase their talent and take part in a great new initiative,” Mayor Heidi Lorenz said.  

The selected design will be transformed into a large-scale four feet by eight feet outdoor interactive photo-op installation in downtown Gravenhurst. 

The temporary placemaking installation is intended to create a fun and visually engaging destination that celebrates the fall season, animates the downtown, and encourages residents and visitors to stop, interact, take photos, and share their experience. 

The town and steering committee are looking for something creative, bold, welcoming, and unmistakably Muskoka. 

Artist Commission: $1,000 + HST 

Call Opens: Sept. 22, 2026 

Submission Deadline: Oct. 6, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. 

Preference may be given to artists based in Gravenhurst and the Muskoka region; however, the opportunity is open to eligible artists from outside the region as well.
