Gravenhurst Fire Department Toy Drive underway
The 11th annual Gravenhurst Fire Department Toy Drive kicks off today.
Firefighters are collecting unwrapped toys that will be turned over to the local Salvation Army for distribution to families in need this Christmas.
“Over the years we’ve seen a tremendous response from donors in our community, and we anticipate a similar show of support this holiday season,” said Kyle Steele, fire prevention officer for the Gravenhurst Fire Department. “The toy drive is a great way to ensure that no child goes without something special this Christmas.”
Toys can be dropped off at Fire Station 1, 190 Harvie St., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, until Monday, Nov. 30.
Firefighters will also be collecting toy donations at the Canadian Tire in Gravenhurst on Saturday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
They will also collect toys during the Gravenhurst Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, Nov. 28.
“We are grateful to everyone who can contribute to the toy drive this year,” Steele said. “Gravenhurst is an extremely generous place and the support this toy drive receives annually is truly heartwarming.”
