Gravenhurst Official Plan review survey now open
The public can now participate in a survey regarding the Town of Gravenhurst’s Official Plan review.
“This is an important opportunity for people in our community,” Mayor Heidi Lorenz said. “On behalf of council, I encourage everyone to take part in the survey.”
The survey is available on the town’s Engage Gravenhurst website.
Survey responses will help staff and consultants create a new Official Plan that will guide how Gravenhurst grows and thrives over the next 30 years.
The Official Plan is a roadmap to 2056 – creating a vision for where homes and businesses can go. The plan will also determine how the town will protect lakes and natural spaces. As well, the plan will consider community transportation needs.
“The document will influence all future aspects of development in our community and for that reason it is imperative that people share their views with us,” said Adam Ager, manager of planning.
The town’s official plan will dovetail with the District of Muskoka’s Official Plan and related priorities.
The survey is open until Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026.
Background
The Town of Gravenhurst kicked off its Official Plan review in early May 2026.
The town retained the consulting firm Fotenn to help facilitate the Official Plan review exercise.

The Official Plan is a document outlining how land will be used in the municipality in years ahead. Under the Planning Act, the town is required to review its Official Plan periodically to ensure the document conforms with provincial plans and policy statements.
The goal is to have the new Official Plan in place by July 2027.
