Gravenhurst Public Library hosting Nature Discovery Packs launch Saturday

The Gravenhurst Public Library, in partnership with Watersheds Canada, invites residents to attend the launch of the library’s new Nature Discovery Packs on Saturday, May 24, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

We are so excited about this launch. A few years ago, the library added some discovery packs to our collection, and they have been very popular. This is us taking it to the next level,” said Jennifer Whipp, children and youth programming librarian. “In partnership with Watersheds Canada, we are adding five new packs for the community to use in addition to other fun collection items like walking poles, water testing kits, and more.”

The launch will feature an educational lesson about the Watersheds Canada Nature Discovery Pack program, followed by a walkthrough of the packs and their features.

Participants will also have time to test out the packs, made possible with funding from TD Friends of the Environment Foundation and Kawartha Credit Union. Snacks will be provided and all ages are welcome.

The themes for the packs are as follows:

  • Things with Wings

  • Night Skies and Navigation

  • Geology 101

  • Splish Splash

  • Forest Explorers

The packs will be available through the library for a week at a time.

The Gravenhurst Public Library is at 180 Sharpe St. W.
