Planning to run in the municipal election? The deadline to file is Friday

The deadline to file as a candidate for the 2026 Gravenhurst municipal election is 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21.  

The final list of certified candidates will be released on Monday, Aug. 24. 

Candidates can book an appointment to file their papers by using the Town of Gravenhurst’s online booking portal 

Here are the offices available:  

  • Mayor (elected at large) 
  • District Councillor (3 elected at large) 
  • Ward 1 (elected by ward) 
  • Ward 2 (elected by ward) 
  • Ward 3 (elected by ward) 
  • Ward 4 (elected by ward) 
  • Ward 5 (elected by ward) 
  • School Boards

If you’re interested in running but want to know more about the position, check out our information guide prepared by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.  

Gravenhurst voters will cast their ballot by telephone or the internet.  

The town will mail information about the voting process to registered voters in late September. 

Voting opens at 10 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2026.  

Election day is Oct. 26, 2026.
