Reduced-load restrictions lifted May 12

During the annual spring thaw period, the Town of Gravenhurst places reduced-load restrictions on most roadways.

Effective Monday, May 12, at 12:01 a.m., reduced-load restrictions will be lifted.

Truck operators are reminded that the purpose of seasonal load restrictions is to protect the road and road base from damage caused by heavy vehicle wheel loads, with the goal of making roads last longer.

Until May 12, when the reduced-load restrictions are lifted, truck operators travelling through the Town of Gravenhurst are legally obligated to only use permitted designated truck routes. This same requirement extends to designated District of Muskoka roads and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) highways.
