Fairy Garden

Shhh… can you hear the flutter of wings? The Fairy Garden is waking up—and it’s calling kids to come play! It’s filled with tiny treasures, whimsical details, and magical moments waiting to be discovered. Whether pretending to fly with fairies, hunting for hidden gems, slaying dragons, or simply enjoying this peaceful outdoor space, little imaginations are sure to bloom in this one-of-a-kind garden made just for them.

Fairy Trail

The fairies have been busy this winter—and their magic is spreading across Gravenhurst! Start your adventure at GPL, where you’ll find our beloved Fairy Garden and pick up your very own map to our Fairy Trail. Set off to find hidden fairy villages tucked around town, hosted by local businesses and community organizations. Follow your map, find each tiny garden, solve the clues, and return your completed sheet to the Library for a magical miniature prize. Keep your eyes open—you never know where fairy wings might flutter next!

Fairy Mail

The fairies have gone digital! Ever wanted to write to a real fairy? Now you can! Drop off a handwritten letter to Lily the Library Fairy at the GPL using our special fairy mailbox. After reading your letter, she’ll send you a magical reply by email--just don’t forget to include a clearly written email address with your letter. Please allow 5–10 business days for a response—summer is a very busy time in the fairy world!

Design your own enchanted fairy door full of tiny details and magical charm this summer at GPL! Bring it to life with colour, creativity, and imagination, then place it where fairies can find it and watch them flutter to your door!

Mythical Creature Colouring Contest

Calling all kids! Unleash your creativity with our summer Fairytale colouring contest! Grab a colouring sheet from GPL or our website, add your personal touch, and submit it by August 21st for a chance to win a prize!

Children's Reading Challenge

Love prizes? Love reading? Pick up your summer reading log at the Gravenhurst Public Library and mark off each day you read—whether it’s 5 minutes or 50, with a parent or with a pet! Read at your own pace, in your own way and return your completed log by August 21st for a chance to win a prize!

Kids' Colouring Contest

Magic fills the air at the Gravenhurst Public Library where your quest begins at our summer Mythical Creature Scavenger Hunt. Wander through our first floor to spot daring dragons, fluttering fairies, and other legendary creatures. There’s magic around every corner! Complete by August 21st for the chance to win a prize!

Kids' Writing Contest

Create your own fairytale creature and write a short story about it! Come into the Library or download and print a copy of the template from our website for more information. Your completed template with your story is due back to the library by August 21st for the chance to win a prize.

Parents/Guardians: Please be aware that children under the age of 10 years old must have a parent or guardian present in the Library. Parents or guardians need to be present in the library at all times during programs and be readily available to supervise their child’s breaks, or early dismissal from programs. Children over the age of 10 are allowed to be in the Library without a parent or guardian present, but will not be supervised by Library staff and are free to leave the program room and the Library at their own discretion.

Please note the Library is not an allergen-free facility.
